Editorial Policy

How Biology Contest sources, writes, reviews, and corrects its content — and what you can expect from us as a reader.

Our Mission

Biology Contest exists to make accurate, accessible biology resources available to anyone who wants to learn. Every article, quiz, and activity is built to two standards at once: rigorous enough that a serious student can rely on it, and plainly worded enough that a curious newcomer can finish it without a textbook beside them.

Who Writes for Us

Our articles are produced by the Biology Contest editorial team — researchers, educators, and science writers who bring a combination of subject expertise and teaching experience to every piece. Occasional guest contributions are clearly attributed to their author and reviewed by our editorial team before publication.

Sourcing

We base our articles on the current scientific consensus, drawing from:

  • Peer-reviewed journals and scientific publications
  • University-published educational materials
  • Authoritative reference works in biology, ecology, genetics, and related fields
  • Reports from established scientific institutions

Where a topic is contested, in flux, or recently revised, we say so in the article itself.

Use of AI Tools

We sometimes use AI tools to help with drafting, copy-editing, fact-pattern checking, or generating illustrative material. AI is never the final word — every published article is reviewed end-to-end by a human editor against the underlying sources. We do not publish AI-generated content that has not been read and verified by a human.

Corrections & Updates

Science evolves, and so do our articles. We treat factual corrections as a priority — if you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it (and acknowledge it inline where appropriate). For substantive updates, we note the change at the top of the affected article.

Independence

Biology Contest is editorially independent. If we publish sponsored content, partner material, or affiliate links, that relationship is disclosed at the point of mention and never affects how we cover a topic.
